The latest entertainment news that is circulating among celebrities is Kony 2012. Kony 2012 is about a man named Joseph Kony who
is considered to be a warlord in Uganda that has enslaved more than 30,000
children. Joseph Kony abducted these children the boys were encouraged and
forced to kill their parents. What’s even worse is that the girls are turned
into sex slaves. The mission is to bring
awareness to what is going on and also to raise support around the world so
that Joseph Kony can be arrested once and for all.
People around the world have
signed on to the cause. There have also been many celebrities to sign on to the
cause as well. A few days ago Twitter and Facebook were overloaded with
supporters posting pictures and asking for support. There is a video that has been spread across the world giving you a clear explanation on what Kony really is all about. It is very intriguing to see people from all areas of the entertainment business coming together for such an important cause.
What's really sad is Joseph Kony is not fighting for a cause that will help his country but instead fighting for his own power. People have asked questions in regards to the United States stepping in, but the United States do not want to get involved due to the compromise that they would be making in regards to security and the alliances that they have.
Invisible Children is an organization/charity that has one mission, which is to stop Joseph Kony and the exploitation of the children in Uganda. On April 20, 2012, Invisible Children and their volunteers will post up signs, stickers, yard signs etc. across the United States and other countries to bring global awareness.
This issue is larger than what we have read over the past few weeks, but if prominent leadership and celebrities come together for a cause such as this, there will definitely be a positive change made in this global issue of Kony 2012. It's not enough to just shake our heads but we have to do all we can to help towards the cause.
